Contested Bodies

Corporeality in Contemporary India

Call for Chapter Proposals

Concept Note

This volume addresses a critical gap by examining the Indian conception of the 'body.' We move beyond the purely biological to frame corporeality as a lived, subjective reality, profoundly shaped by discursive, social, and technological forces. The body is where meanings are produced, power is contested, and identities are formed.
